Supply-side Economics Explained for k5ers
George W. Bush's economic policy is based on trickle-down economics, also known as supply-side stimulus. Reagan was a big fan of this idea also. Simply described, supply siders argue that the best way to stimulate the economy to grow is to cut taxes on the wealthy. When their tax rates fall, the rich will increase their investments. For example, a restaurant owner might decide to build a larger kitchen if she gets a big refund check. Then, she'll have to hire more workers to staff that kitchen, and so employment goes up, indirectly because of that original tax cut.

I'm thinking of making myself a present - finding someone to redesign my weblog :) What do I want: CSS-based design

    My Yahoo! RSS
Customers can subscribe to RSS feeds via My Yahoo! As noted in the previous post, this may be a way for your customers to get your newsletters without email and without adding a new piece of software to their systems. Should work from behind firewalls, too. It would be better if you could get customers to install a newsreader that didn't require using a browser to read feeds, but this is a good alternative. World Population Reaches 6.4 Billion: What To Do?
A "population clock" at ibiblio.org projects that world human population will reach 6.4 billion on January 27, 2004. Over 97% of population growth is now in developing countries (Haub, 2003). This growth will worsen the impact of many negative social and ecological trends. Current demographic developments indicate the population explosion may be slowing. Two trends account for this: The birth rate is starting to slow in many developing countries (reaching a population replacement level) and the death rate is increasing in some of the poorest countries.

As part of his weblog, Michael Bérubé shows how blog software like pMachine can create an attractive and servicable bibliography with links to many of the texts. Notice the good use of color and other typographical variations to make the page more easty to use. Since he wrote all the items listed in this lightly-annotated bibliography, he also shows how much a person can accomplish with good work habits!

I thought this was a good interview, despite Sawyer's alternation between being insipid and baiting them. It was the first time I've heard Judy Steinberg, and I think it gives a pretty good picture of what he and they are like, modulo their political concerns and Sawyer's entertainment concerns. Connecting to the CVS server via SSH works like a charm. It's a trivial change to make on the client side. Change your $CVSROOT to :ext:username@commons.ucalgary.ca:/Library/CVS Really should have been running under SSH all along - pserver is a gaping security hole, with the plaintext passwords passed through the pipe...
