Positive Negative: HIV/AIDS Photographic Exhibition Positive Negative highlights the work done on behalf of all Australians to fight HIV/AIDS in the Asia Pacific region. It looks at how the Australian Government works with non-government organisations to help developing countries address the HIV/AIDS crisis through prevention, education and treatment. The photos present work from five Australian photographers: Stephen Dupont, Lorrie Graham, Ingvar Kenne, Alice Pagliano and Jack Picone. Princeton Shahnama project The Shahnama is the national epic poem of Persia, and this site is the online access point for a magnificent collection of 277 miniatures gathered from 5 separate manuscripts of the Shahnama dating from 1544 to 1674. In fact, the site is a complete resource for the study of the Shahnama, set up by the Educational Technology Center at Princeton together with eminent Middle Persian scholars. Satyajit Ray film and study collection This is the website of a research group and archive focussed entirely on Satyajit Ray (1921-92), the greatest Bengali film maker. The team have preserved not only his films but also his sketchbooks, writings, musical scores and posters for his films. There is an enormous collection of material at the research centre and it is possible to search the catalogues online; but most of it is not available for display as there are outstanding copyright issues. Peabody Essex Museum The Peabody Essex Museum has created a powerful and genuinely useful website that invites the viewer to really dig in to their collections. The front page is well-designed and foreshadows the consistent good design that pervades the site. Specific exhibits are breathtaking: there is a complete Qing dynasty house to explore ('Yin Yu Tang House'). Archivox Archivox is an innovative Web site that offers audio files of readings from notable French texts. Users may listen to extracts from a range of literature in French including: autobiographies; short stories; novels; poetry; letters; and travel writing. The readings last three to four minutes on average, and for most of the extracts the site provides the text in full which users may read while listening to the recording.
