There are some verbs that fit into more than one level on Bloom’s Taxonomy. The objectivs are written differently for each level. For example, illustrate can be written in four levels -- comprehension, application, analysis, and synthesis.
- Learners will be able to illustrate the four steps of problem-solving. (Comprehension)
- Learners will be able to illustrate the use of diagramming in writing. (Application)
- Learners will be able to illustrate the parts of a flower. (Analysis)
- Learners will be able to illustrate the new ending of the story. (Synthesis)
- Another example of a multi-level verb is compare - analysis, synthesis, evaluation
- Learners will be able to compare front wheel drive vehicles to back wheel drive vehicles. (analysis)
- Learners will be able to compare two types of vehicles using senior citizens’ needs as the basis for comparison. (synthesis)
- Learners will be able to compare the features of two types of vehicles that best fit mothers with young children’s needs. (evaluation)
- Notice the wording of each of the objectives. It is not the same wording for each objective and assuming they are at different levels in Bloom’s Taxonomy.
