1. Orientation Introduction
* Focuses the students attention on the presentation the instructor (or other speaker) is about to make. An advanced organizer is one example.
* Employs an activity, event, object, or person that the instructor knows students have an interest in or experience with.
* Provides a structure or framework that enables students to visualize the content or activities of the lesson. An advanced organizer is one example
* Aids in clarifying the objectives of the lesson.
2. Transition Introduction
* Provides smooth transition from known or already covered material to new or unknown material.
* Incorporates examples (either verbal or non-verbal), analogies, and activities the students have an interest in or have experienced.
3. Evaluation Introduction
* Evaluates previously learned material (usually by means of a review) before moving on to new material or activities.
* Incorporates student-centered activities or student-developed examples and analogies that demonstrate the understanding of previously learned content.
