The Upper Left Ventricle

Whether the objectives are written first or after the content and strategies are chosen, they reflect what content will be taught and suggest how it will be taught. In the following examples we can examine further how objectives reflect the content and possible strategies.

  • Discuss Bloom’s Taxonomy
The content is Bloom’s taxonomy. The teaching strategy is a discussion. There are many ways a discussion can take place (whole class, small groups, pairs, written)

  • Write instructional objectives
In this objectives learners are expected to write instructional objectives. The instructor must provide an opportunity for them to write them. Here a discussion is not appropriate. However the instructor can have the learners write in pairs, in small groups, or as a class.

  • List the uses of instructional objectives
Here the learners must list the uses of objectives. It does not matter if this is done as individuals, small groups, or as a class.
