Overview of Teaching Strategies
Overview of Teaching Strategies
There many, many teaching strategies. Each strategy can be subdivided
into numerous activities (for example, a discussion is a strategy
but the discussion could be planned using any of the following
activities -- in pairs, small groups, class, panel, oral, on
paper, in-class, out-of-class). It is not the intention of this
course to teach you new strategies, however, its intent is to
remind you of those you already know about. Another course (Advanced
Instructional Methods) will address strategies in much more detail.
Remember active learning is remembered longer than passive learning.
There is a time and place for a lecture but there many times
for other strategies to be used.
