After prompting from an online forum, many technologically inclined cinephiles have turned memorable color classics into black-and-white silent films.
Along with actor Michael J. Fox's character going back in time, along with the more recent driving stunts of Ryan Gosling's character in last year's Drive.

The assignment was doled out by Mission: DS106, a self-proclaimed 'anthology of new media projects'.
The site suggested that those inclined users should take a modern movie trailer and alter it so that it looks like a silent film of yesteryear, using music tracks and black-and-white conversions to 'make it look antiquated'.

Youtube user techsavvyed, who posted his silent movie version of a scene from the third instalment of the Back To The Future series, said that the challenge was appropriate given the current trends in the movie industry.
'After the huge success that The Artist had last year, and at the academy awards, it only seemed fitting that people start turning modern classics into "silent era" films,' the user wrote in his comments.

Newer films, like Drive, Girl With Ye Old Dragon Tattoo and Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows also provided inspiration for the cinephiles.
According to the Mission: DS106 site, 33 people have completed the assignment to date, though they are scattered across the internet only connected by the same tag 'VideoTutorials376'.
