Adopt and Adapt
Mark Prensky on the need for schools to pick up the pace and start
integrating technology more comprehensively: So, let's not just adopt technology into our schools. Let's adapt it, push it, pull it, iterate with it, experiment with it, test it, and redo it, until we reach the point where we and our kids truly feel we've done our very best. Then, let's push it and pull it some more. And let's do it quickly, so the twenty-second century doesn't catch us by surprise From

Flickr Annotation Example...HELP!
I've run into a last minute snag with
my book that I hope someone out there can help with. I wanted to show an example of
Flickr's use of the annotation tool, but I haven't been able to secure permission for the
screen shot I used. (You have to be logged in to see the annotations.) Anyone else have any similar examples of Flickr being used in this way in the classroom? From

My World Lanuages Teachers are Getting It
More molecules moving today...sat with a group of World Language teachers and talked and showed them what we could do with audio and podcasting and the like and there were suddenly lots of light bulbs going off. They're already posting their own files for kids to listen to, but... "So you mean we can just send the link to the audio file in an e-mail once we post it." Yep. "If we wanted to archive them, we can link them from our blogs, right?" Uh-huh. "What if we wanted to have kids in other schools list From

Conferenza goes bloggily free
Conferenza has been a subscription-based newsletter that tells you what you missed at the conferences you wanted to go to but couldn't. It's been well-written and fiercely frank. Now it's become a free blog, supporting itself by ads. For readers, this is good news because now everyone can read it. And I hope it works out wonderfully for Conferenza. [Tags: conferenza blogs]... Fast wifi in Boston
Steve Garfield has a fascinating 3 minute report at Rocketboom about "PulsePoints," a free fast wifi network, very local, that is separate from the Internet but provides access to a bunch of content cached from the Internet. Oh, listen to it and then you'll see what I'm trying to say. [Tags: pulsePoints wifi boston SteveGarfield rocketboom]... From

Crash course in learning theory
A wonderful article describing
tips and techniques to create engaging & memorable learning moments: This is not a comprehensive look at the state of learning theory today, but it does include almost everything we think about in creating our books. And although it's geared toward blogs/writing virtually everything in here applies regardless of how you deliver the learning--you can easily adapt it to prentations, user documentation, or classroom learning.
