If today's newsletter seems a little short, it is because I have been working on this handout for my workshop tomorrow in Edmonton. There's a PDF version (44 page PDF) with a couple of formatting errors (*sigh*) and also the Google Docs version I link to with the headline to this post (feel free to comment). There are sections on the critical literacies, the aspects of distributed learning technologies, and some images related to personal learning. I plan to use this as the basis for my October workshop at E-Learning Africa in Abidjan, and who knows where else!

This is a detailed summary of a talk by Geoff Stead, chief product person of the Babbel language corporation, talking about informal learning at scale. "Digital learning is not content distribution," says Stead. "We are only a small slice of our learner's day, we never really know what is going on." See also: Rose Luckin's Golden Triangle.
