How to apply a design thinking, HCD, UX or any creative process from scratch

This is the first I've seen of the 'Double Diamond' design methodology, though I guess it has been around for 20 years (according to the LinkedIn post). To me, though, it could be rewritten as the first four steps of ADDIE (and the omission of an 'evaluation' step seems like a glaring omission). Still, it's representative of a pretty standard approach to design. Yet while something like this is probably the right way to do it, I find it interesting that it has never been my approach. I don't do anything in sequence; everything's in parallel, based on my mood of the day, and I have some steps (casual browsing, off-topic conversations, taking photos) that are (to me) important parts of my method, but would never shouw up in a methodology such as this.

Can Large Language Models Write Reflectively

With students now using AI to write papers, you might be thinking that having them write reflective essays might be a good way to adapt. Maybe not. According to this study (and it's just one small study so let's not jump to conclusions) an AI can not only write a reflective essay, it can do a better job of it than most students. "ChatGPT is capable of generating high-quality reflections, outperforming student-written reflections in all the assessment criteria." Also, "we identified that human evaluators could not accurately differentiate ChatGPT-generated reflections from students-generated reflections."

The Public Knowledge Project's Declaration of Scholarly Independence

Facing the reality of an article publication charge (APC) of $3460, the editors of the Elsevier journal NeuroImage all resigned. This post from PKP reiterates its commitment to noncommercial and independent scholarly publishing. "Publishing under pressure to maximize share-holder value and profit margins is not just counter to the pursuit of research, it is detrimental to the ethics, integrity, and impact of those engaged in such work." Quite right. I don't know why researchers publish in commercial journals any more.
