Knowledge, Learning, Community

When I say that "the role of the teacher is to model and demonstrate" I am typically thinking of teachers in the widest sense, that is, I am not simply thinking of traditional classroom teachers, but of people who are accomplished in their fields generally. Hence I am am supportive of the concept of "working out lout", which is the practice of making one's work and methods open for others to view. But note, this isn't the sort of networking we sometimes read about, where the purpose is to make connections and advance one's career. Nor is it the sort of networking that can be mandated or required by organizational principle. It is a voluntary and non-self-serving act of sharing one's knowledge through modeling and demonstrating one's work. More.
