It is well worth noting that recent years have seen a formalization of research data management (RDM) services with the growth of new policies, norms, and principles. The recent pandemic especially demonstrated some of the challenges of RDM supporting remote users. This article describes a reshaped RDM model "founded on centralized and cohesive collaboration between multiple stakeholders at a large research university in Canada." It also suggests how similar collaboration could exist between institutions. All of that said, and despite the appear of the 'one stop shop' for research data, it is worth exploring alternatives between fully centralized RDM and a siloed research infrastructure. In the longer term, we will want to support something like social linked data, which is essentially what a 'multi-stakeholder' approach implies.
