It's funny to me how academics can find migrating to Mastodon can be challenging while being exposed to toxic content on Twitter doesn't faze them at all. "Our findings," write the authors (12 page PDF), "highlight the challenges involved in transitioning professional communities to decentralized platforms, emphasizing the need for focusing on migrating social connections for long-term user engagement."
