This might mean the end of a large percentage of research in education. What will we do if we can't depend on surveys? In this post, Maha Bali reflects on the ethics of using AI in survey responses. I can certainly understand her complaint, but if research depends on the subjects behaving ethically, then it is not on a very sure footing. Meanwhile, what should researchers do if they suspect AI was used? "I'll take the responses and analyze them and assume that, at least, the person agrees with what ChatGPT answered, but I mean, really? Really?" Really?
