This is an issue that affects me directly, because I am one of the public servants (I work for Canada's National Research Council) required to return to the office (RTO) three days a week. A can already feel it impacting my productivity and costing me more money. It's particularly galling for me, first, because our team and my peers are spread across Canada and around the world; and second, because the premise of RTO runs counter to most of what I've found in my own research over the last three decades. I would think that the Canadian government would want a public service that can live and work in every corner of Canada, and not be limited to a few offices in Ottawa. I would have thought the government would want to see the improved productivity that results. But what do I know?
