Discussion of why we want learning marketplaces, a look at a number of existing marketplaces (such as MERLOT, XANEDU) then a detailed examination of the mechanisms necessary in order to make them succeed. This part includes background about the semantic web and learning objects.  Also includes a description of my favourite 'fishing rod that teaches you' example.
