Learning = Remembering?

I have in the past made the point that learning is not remembering, and this item allows me to exercise that thought a bit. And if you think about it, if learning is remembering, then since Google remembers everything for us, we no longer need to learn, and we'll be fine. Of course, this isn't the case. To 'learn' is to acquire (or grow into) a certain set of neural connections, and these connections may have cognitive components, but they may also embody skills, attitudes, or capacities. This is why connectivism, as outlined by george Siemen s, has little to do with remembering. Nor does Christian Long's 'Future of Learning Manifesto'.
