Embedding is becoming widespread. Under a broad definition, handheld computers are embedded systems. So are locks on modern hotel room doors, cash registers, fax machines and so on. There is also a subset of this market we're calling gadgets, such as smart consumer electronics devices, home entertainment systems, smart watches, smart phones, GPS gear and mapping systems in cars.
