I thought a gigabyte was big - really big. But now I have several terabyte drives to manage my backups and multimedia storage. And I'm worried I don't have enough space. After 'terabyte' comes 'petabyte'. That's the amoujnt of data processed by Google every 72 minutes. But we're just skimming the surfaxce. After 'petabyte' comes 'exabyte', then 'zettabyte'. Cisco has already published a report called 'The Zettabye Era'. "Annual global IP traffic will pass the zettabyte threshold by the end of 2016. In 2016, global IP traffic will reach 1.3 zettabytes per year or 110.3 exabytes per month." After 'zetabyte' comes 'yottabyte', and then we're out out prefixes. "Only 20+ years ago, we didn't anticipate needing anything beyond yotta." So we will need a new prefix. I humbly suggest, the 'stephenbyte'.
