I wish people would be more assertive in the exercise of their rights to fair use. "Visual arts professionals, including art historians, let real and perceived fears about copyright law get in the way of their work, finds a new report from the College Art Association. 'Their work is constrained and censored, most powerfully by themselves, because of the confusion and the resulting fear and anxiety.'" In related news, my photograph of a castle a couple blocks from my home in Moncton (that you can own for a mere $700K) was used without permission in Huffington Post and with permission in the National Post.
