I think this is exactly right: "In the face of new CRLFtechnologies and competition, the U.S. is toughening patent CRLFand copyright protections... if it's not careful, the US CRLFwill drive its intellectual property offshore..." The core CRLFof the observation here is that patent and copyright policy CRLFtoday is increasingly a type of trade policy, responding to CRLFforeign competition by making it more difficult to compete. CRLFBut while U.S. industries rest under the new protective CRLFumbrella, they risk being left behind by other nations.
