An update on Badges and Backpack

Mozilla has transferred stewardship of the open badges initiative to the IMS Global Learning Consortium  and is ending support for the Mozilla backpack; users will be transferred to Badgr. The badge project ran the same course as pretty much every ed tech project: "early badge work put learners at the centre of the design" but ultimately began also to "serve the needs of incumbent education providers like school systems." Anyhow, "The technology and services originally prototyped by non-profits like Mozilla and Digitalme and companies like Concentric Sky and Credly have now attracted corporations like IBM, Pearson and Microsoft." The revolution will be institutionalized.
