"Despite considerable unknowns, it is clear that MOOC-based course series will not be replacing college degrees any time soon. Even for well-educated participants, completion of a course series appears to be a challenge—or perhaps simply a low priority." If it weren't for the need to get a degree or diploma, would people be educating themselves this way? Survey articles like this aren't getting to the deeper issues.
