How to Fix Higher Education: Seven Keys

None of the 'seven keys' described in this article is going to do anything to 'fix college', probably because the problem analysis published in Forbes is also flawed. "As a result of demographic and market changes," writes Tom Vander Ark, "most colleges are losing enrollment and finding it harder to raise prices." The solutions? Things like monitoring (broader evidence, active monitoring), focus (clarity of purpose, focus on employability, adult learning), and marketing (affordability, agility). The presumption here is that the basic product is sound, but its positioning needs tweaking. But if the public is increasingly reluctant to pay for the service, maybe it's less a perception problem, as it's being framed here, and more of a sevrice problem.
