What converted RSS from an obscure XML format to the widely popular specification it is today? Very simply - tools started to use it: blogging softwrae, on the one end, and headline readers on the other. Which means that people do not even need to think about RSS in order to be using it. In the same spirit is this article, which argues against the need to have to think - and write - in HTML.
