Could this plan make Facebook obsolete?

This article is pretty superficial and falls prey the the media's predilection of reducing an entire movement to a single individual, but I'm including it because in this case the person in question, Kaliya Young (a.k.a. identity Woman) has had a real impact, and because the concept of self-sovereign identity (SSI) is a real think, and because it offers a really great example of how things should work: "She wants to be able to take her identity with her from Facebook to Google to her doctor's office to her bank, with the same ease that she can plug any electrical device into any socket in any wall. And she doesn't want any company or government to have the authority to track, cancel or suspend her." The problem is that while this is what people want, it's not really what governments or companies want. But as I said, there's an entire movement working on this. Count me as a supporter.
