Everyone is "pivoting" these days, it seems. For these three reserachers, it's to open educational resources. Taking a South African perspective, they write that "The primary concerns expressed around this move... pertain to access and connectivity, particularly as relates to socio-economic disparity and inequality amongst students" (again, though, as I've commented so many times, inequality was rife even before any sort of online pivot). The authors write, "The current COVID-19 crisis makes it impossible to ignore the benefits OER could provide to an education system operating under unprecedented strain," and provide a list of cases and examples.
