I read through this article several times quite carefully looking for "the missing ingredient" and either there is no missing ingredient, or the missing ingredient is "application and impact" as stated in the title. Certainly, the authors want us to think of application and impact as the key outcome from virtual learning. "The impact is why the program is being implemented... The results must go toward impact because impact is what executives and funders want to see." I personally think this is a very one-sided view of virtual learning, but it would be difficult to deny that this is the ethos in most corporate learning today.
