Based on a LinkedIn post from someone I trust, I've signed up for Counter.Social. It's Mastodon-based but I'm not sure whether it federates with any other site at all. What's interesting is that it is stringently regulated to prevent advertising, bots, misinformation, and more. There are also a number of additional services I've only begin to explore that leverage a verified identity - conferencing, groups, VR realm, live streaming, and an assistant named 'Alfred'.
