Our idea of what it means to be educated - or even intelligent - is changing as a result of the arrival of digital media and digital intelligence. I've launched my own version of what I think that looks like. But other pundits are weighing in. This article, for example, talks about three critical shifts: from passive consumption to active metacognition; from defensive postures to purposeful integration; and from individual skill to collective capability. Carlo Iacono says, "it's about actively shaping how human and artificial intelligence can work together to expand rather than diminish human potential." Right - but we have to actually do that.
