John Chambers addessses mostly the lack of learning in science and technology, but I think it's broader than that. Citizens in an advanced society should have a sharp awareness of geography, history, language, logic. But his central point is on target. "My parents taught me that the great equalizer in life was your education, not where you’re from or your religion, or the color of your skin." But what I wonder is - why is it a battle? Who are they (we?) fighting against?
