The Horseless Carriage...

"It's all got to be about the individual. And my preferred way of expressing that is that a weblog is a representation of a person." This is my view as well, which is why I begin to get my hackles up when people start talking about corporate blogs, or assigned blogs, or edited blogs. Because if you take seriously the idea that a weblog is "a whole prosthetic version of yourself" then each of these is some sort of external entity substituting their identity for yours in your space. And that troubles me, for if there is one this that should be irreducibly ours, it is our identity. Isn't it? Via Alan Levine.
