Alan Levine taps into some discontent about the "leap from the success of podcasting to saying video will take off just the same." I concur. Because it's easy to read a blog, it lent itself easily to subscription, where you could simply skip over off-topic content. But listening to a podcast takes up more time, and watching video even more so, and there will be a much greater need for selectivity. And I question where those who would push us into, say, video feed subscriptions are taking us. I think more and more that they think of themselves as broadcasters and are moving through this sort of (misleading) prognostication to stifle the competition.
