Remember Skype? It still exists, but hasn't really prospered after its acquisition by Microsoft years ago. Skype has permanently halted credit and phone number sales as Microsoft pushes users toward monthly subscriptions. It has "around 23.5 million" daily users. Anyhow, Microsoft is in the process of converting its 'Skype credit' model users can use to pay for Skype-to-telephone calls (Skype-to-Skype calls are free) to a subscription-based model where all users will pay $5-$10 a month for 'international calls'. I remember maybe 20 years ago when international calling cards were a big business. This feels like that, only less useful. Via Apostolos K.
